Read “The Revolution Will Be…” Magazine’s debut issue here!
Using wix.com, a drag and drop flash website maker, I have created an online magazine which discusses the rhetoric surrounding the future of digital reading and online publishing, with a focus on the differences in retention and understanding between analog and digital text. It also features a piece on digital haptics (i.e. the ability to touch a book and turn a page) in relation to new online tools that mimic said experience.

Update: April 2nd 2010
I have realized that Wix does not offer a zoom feature, making my magazine content virtually unreadable. Below is a scribed.com document which will allow you to zoom in and read however you wish. Due to the fact that it is a .pdf, some fonts are not visible because I do not own the rights to them (although they are free fonts and I have credited the creators on the second page). Have a read and please have a look at how the magazine was supposed to turn out above.
Hey Jill,

Hey Paula,
I tried emailing you and I guess I got your email wrong. jillswood@gmail.com is mine. Shoot me a line! It looks like I have room for a quarter page ad if you’re interested!
Looks great!
You’ve covered some great content within the magazine, I enjoyed reading the articles! It’s interesting how digital reading is becoming so popular, especially with the release of the Kindle and the new iPad. However, I must admit that I’m not a fan of digital reading. Although companies and developers are making e-reading more accessible and increasingly cheaper if not free, I still typically prefer reading a physical copy of a novel or magazine. There is a quality to reading a magazine in paper format, whether it be on the beach or on the train, that a Kindle or iPad just can’t cater to. Regardless, great magazine, certainly brings up some great topics!
Thanks for the comment Jenn!
